Alternatively when landing on Planets the leader can choose which Planet to take (steal) cargo from then the 2nd has a choice until the options run out.Īctions that gain credits usually involve taking a period of time and this is marked by moving backwards a number of Day spaces on the Flight Board. For example when Pirates attack they work their way through the line of ships until one ship defeats them (if at all) and then they are dispersed. This can potentially affect all the ships or sometimes only the front runners. The leader draws the first card and it’s action is resolved. The deck size and thus flight length increase with the level of the mission and the size of the ships. They’re set out in order on the Flight Board which will record their positions relative to each other and their fate will be controlled by the deck of Adventure cards. To boldly go where the hand of man has never yet set foot. The Galaxy Trucker ships are now ready to launch off. They take the No 1 leader token and set a 1-minute timer for the rest to finish theirs and take the remaining positions. This continues through various timed stages until someone has finished their ship. The geeky Orange aliens will add +2 to your Engine strength whilst the warlike Purple aliens will add +2 to your Guns Ye cannae deny the laws of physics!Ĭrew Quarters are for human crew but you can attach one of two different life support systems to enable them to house one of two different aliens. Guns must have a clear space in front of them, either a blank square or the ship boundary and similarly engines must have a clear space behind them. There is the outline of your ship tessellated into squares and you can not go beyond the edges. 1 and 2 pipe can only be connected to their own kind or the 3 pipe which connects to anything. The connectors are : 1 pipe, 2 pipe or a universal 3 pipe connection. All must be connected to each other and to your starting central crew cabin. There are rules for the piece placements. If not you discard it back into the warehouse but this time leave it face up so others can see it and pick it themselves. You turn the tile and decide if you want to add it to your ship. The only rule is that you look at one piece at a time. With no set turn order pilots pile in and help themselves to parts that will make their vessel the Queen of the Skies. These are all heaped in a pile of face-down tiles in the “warehouse”. There are many different component parts that can be used to make your ship : Crew Quarters, Engines, Guns, Batteries, Pipework, Shields and the all-important Cargo Holds. Galaxy Trucker starts with some frantic real-time action as you and your fellow pilots all scrap over scrap. Will you have enough left to make it to the journey’s end and be filthy rich or will all your hopes and dreams go down the pan? Piece In Our Time All will take chunks out of your ship and crew. What could possibly go wrong? Well quite a lot actually : Pirates, Slavers, Meteors, Epidemic and Sabotage to name but a few. Galaxy Trucker sees you build a spaceship from the components found in a sewerage system suppliers’ warehouse and fly it to the other side of the Galaxy. That said, should you want a longer, more challenging experience, you can play a three-flight campaign known as the "Transgalactic Trek". This version of Galaxy Trucker is a relaunch of the original 2007 release by Vlaada Chvatil that features new art, more ship tiles, tweaked card effects, and streamlined gameplay that consists of only a single flight through space. (Profit, yay!) Players earn credits by delivering goods, defeating pirates, having the best-looking ship, and reaching their destination before the others. The goal is to survive the trek - hopefully with at least some of your crew and ship intact - and have at least one credit by the end of the game. Of course, that's easier said than done since many hazards will send pieces of your ship, your cargo, and your crew hurling into the depths of space. Once the ships are launched, players encounter dangerous situations while vying for financial opportunities, each hoping to gain the most valuable cargo and finish with as much of their ship still intact as possible. In the fast and goofy family game Galaxy Trucker, players begin by simultaneously rummaging through the common warehouse, frantically trying to grab the most useful component tiles to build their spaceship - all in real-time.
